GJEPC leadership felicitates Hon’ble Deputy Minister

A senior Namibian delegation led by Ms. Gaudentia Krohne, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy, Namibia, visited GJEPC Head Office for a B2B engagement focused on strengthening cooperation between Namibia and India’s diamond industry.

The delegation included:

* Mr. Titus Amukwelele, Diamond Inspector
* Mr. Balchand Jain, Honorary Consul of Namibia in Mumbai

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Anoop Mehta, Convener – Diamond Panel, GJEPC; Mr. Ashish Borda and Mr. Bharat Ghori, Members – Diamond Panel, GJEPC; and Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC.

* Namibia’s 2025 production: 2.09M carats worth US$721.4M, at a record US$343.88/carat.

* Global standing: Namibia ranked 5th by value, contributing ~8% of global rough diamond production.

* India’s scale: India imported 106.09M carats worth US$11.07B in rough diamonds in 2025.

* Trade opportunity: Namibia expressed interest in bringing rough diamonds to 
India for showcasing and sale.

* Tax opportunity: Proposed 15-year tax exemption for rough diamond trading through notified 
SNZs at BDB and Surat Diamond Bourse.

* Future collaboration: GJEPC is exploring a potential MoU with Namibia to 
deepen direct diamond trade.

With Namibia’s exceptional rough diamond quality and India’s world-leading manufacturing and trading ecosystem, the engagement opens promising avenues for deeper India–Namibia collaboration and greater access to Namibian rough diamonds for Indian buyers and manufacturers
